The Council of Economists of China recently concluded a 2-week summit where current and future Chinese economic policies, challenges and opportunities were discussed. Included was the following topic: Which potential US Republican President will be best for the Chinese job market? While Donald Trump was commonly cited, Ted Cruz and a number of others were frequently mentioned.
[China's] growth has been largely based on central planning with our government subsidizing and organizing our manufacturing sector. As such, we hope the American political climate will continue to ignore its own crumbling manufacturing sector and continue to send manufacturing demand our way."
When we asked Xiu Xiao which president he liked the best, he responded:
"Personally I like Donald Trump."
